As of September 15, 2009 operators of any motorized pleasure craft are required by Federal Legislation to have a Pleasure Craft Operator's Card  ( PCOC )  and carry it with them while operating the craft.

- A fine of $250 can be charged against both the owner and the operator of a vessel for the first offence.
- Renters of powered vessels are required to complete a dockside checklist as proof of competency.

Don't just  "get"  your card but actually learn safe boating from experienced local boaters while doing so.  Take a course from the volunteer instructors of the Shediac Power and Sail Squadron.  We offer two options to the public to earn their Pleasure Craft Operators Card:
  1. Boat Pro (PCOC)
  2. Boating

For the next PCOC certificate course offered by the Squadron select courses.

* NOTE: Over the summer of 2010 the Shediac Squadron will be giving members of the public the opportunity; once a month, to write the qualifying test for the PCOC, but will not be giving the Boat Pro course.  For details select plans.
